Andrew C. Dodgen was born and raised in LaGrange, Georgia. After graduation cum laude from LaGrange College in 1983, he attended Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law, graduating in 1986. Upon graduation, he joined the Law offices of William C. Moore in Columbus, Georgia as an Associate, becoming a partner in 1990, at which time the firm became Moore & Dodgen. Upon Mr. Moore’s retirement on July 1, 2011, the firm became the Law Offices of Andrew C. Dodgen.
Since 1986, Mr. Dodgen has been actively engaged in the practice of law in Columbus, Georgia and the surrounding area.
His practice has included representation of clients who have been injured due to the negligence or wrongful acts of others, or those who have lost loved ones due to such acts. He has handled all manner of accident cases, including automobile accidents, tractor-trailer cases, premises liability, workers compensation and medical malpractice, and has helped recover full monetary compensation for his clients.
In addition, he practices in the areas of divorce and family law, wills and estates, probate, guardianships and conservatorships.
Mr. Dodgen has been very active in the area of Juvenile Justice. He served as public defender for the Juvenile Court of Muscogee County for five years. He was a founding member of the team which formed the Juvenile Drug Court of Muscogee County, which provides a treatment based program for young offenders. This involvement culminated in the appointment of Mr. Dodgen as a part time Judge of the Juvenile Courts of the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit effective October 1, 2011.
Mr. Dodgen has succeeded Mr. Moore as County Attorney for Talbot County, Georgia and for the Unified Government of Cusseta-Chattahoochee County and has the honor to represent these local governments.
Mr. Dodgen is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, Columbus Bar Association and American Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in all Georgia State Courts, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals the Georgia Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. He served as President of the Columbus Bar Association for 2012-2013 and has also served the association as Treasurer, Secretary and Vice President. He was selected to be a member of the American Bar Foundation in 2012
Mr. Dodgen and his wife, Lisa, live in Columbus, Georgia. Mrs. Dodgen is the managing director of the Gardens at Calvary, an assisted living facility. Their oldest son, Dr. Andrew L. Dodgen, is married to their daughter in-law, Dr. Amber Dodgen. They practice medicine in North Carolina. Their son Alex Dodgen is a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Their son Benjamin Dodgen is a college student.
Mr. and Mrs. Dodgen are active members of Calvary Baptist Church in Columbus where Mr. Dodgen has taught Sunday school for more than twenty years.
